WatchOS' Mindfulness breathe animation

Forums > SwiftUI

Hey all! I was taking a closer look at the breathe animation in the WatchOS Mindfulness app and wondered if you'd have an idea of which technique was used to create it.

As you can see, it seems to use some pretty complex effects like chromatic aberration, motion blur, and even depth of field – things we generally don't see in UI animations.

Any idea of how it was created? Is this something that could be done with Core Graphics or Metal? Or maybe it's simply a pre-rendered animation?
