SOLVED: Is it possible to create a responsive modifier?

Forums > SwiftUI

Hi 👋,

When thinking about the layout, I am trying to increase a horizontal padding once I exceed a certain screen size, e.g. the iPhone 12 Mini.

Is that possible? (and also conform with the HIG?)

The following approach won't work:

struct DefaultPadding: ViewModifier{
    func body(content: Content) -> some View {
        if(UIScreen.screenWidth > 375.0){
            content
                .padding(.horizontal, 25)
        } else {
            content
                .padding(.horizontal, 15)
        }
    }
}

This doesn't work?

struct DefaultPadding: ViewModifier{
    func body(content: Content) -> some View {
        content
            .padding(.horizontal, UIScreen.screenWidth > 375.0 ? 25 : 15)
    }
}
