SOLVED: Core Data Error

Forums > SwiftUI

I copied over a xcdatamodeld file from one project to another, thinking i would save myself sometime recreating the same file. But now in the new app I'm getting a "Thread 1: "An NSManagedObject of class 'Customer' must have a valid NSEntityDescription."" Error. I have a feeling I missed a step bringing the file over from the other app.... It works fine in old app??

Have you copied your PersistanceController or CoreDataStack (what ever you have called it) as well?

As soon as I posted this issue a light finally came on in my head what I forgot to do...

In my @main file I failed to add in my @StateObject private var dataController = DataController() and the ContentView() .environment(.managedObjectContext, dataController.container.viewContext)

below is the code that fixed the issue.. I don't know why it took posting the issue to get my brain working but it did...

import SwiftUI

@main
struct QuiltersDungeonApp: App {
    @StateObject private var dataController = DataController()
    var body: some Scene {
        WindowGroup {
            ContentView()
                .environment(\.managedObjectContext, dataController.container.viewContext)
        }
    }
}
