Sectioned Fetch Request without a property wrapper?

Forums > Swift

I’d like to put the logic behind grabbing a sectioned fetch request in an ObservableObject.

I can do a regular, non-sectioned fetch request from a function like this:

  public func allObjectsExcept(name: String) -> [Object] {
    let request = Object.fetchRequest()
    request.predicate = NSPredicate(format: "ANY object.name != %@", name)
    let objects = (try? container.viewContext.fetch(request)) ?? []

    return objects
  }

Is there a way to specify the sectioned request without a property wrapper? I’ve tried muddling through the docs but can’t seem to connect the pieces and can’t find an example.

Thanks,

Donny Wals' book on Core Data suggests converting the result of the fetch request to a dictionary whose key is the attribute that defines the sections.

However, he recommends using the SwiftUI property wrapper instead.

Thanks! That book is on my list.
