Does encryption work on Simulator?

I am experimenting on save with encryption (Day 72) on a randomcode project I have. I am trying to save an Array with 

options: [.atomicWrite, .completeFileProtection]

Saving and Reading works great, but when I am using the url path to open the file on my mac, I can see everything in the file(I tried also with the Simulator "Locked" ), is this normal?
