SOLVED: Project 22, Day 75 - 'startRangingBeacons(in:)' deprecated in iOS 13.0 error

Forums > 100 Days of Swift

Hi guys,

While following the tutorial, I got an error when I put this line in:

locationManager?.startRangingBeacons(in: beaconRegion)

The error is: " 'startRangingBeacons(in:)' was deprecated in iOS 13.0: Use -startRangingBeaconsSatisfyingConstraint: ".

So basically, how can I deal with that? What are those 'constraints to be satisfied' mentioned in the error?

According to docs you need instance of this class https://developer.apple.com/documentation/corelocation/clbeaconidentityconstraint

It can either have just UUID and then match all minor and major numbers or even those specified. Currently in the proejct the region is created with UUID, major and minor numbers. So if you use these same constraints to create instance of CLBeaconIdentityConstraint then it should work in the same way.

Thanks for help!
