You must do lots of job of interviews at Netflix, so what kinds of common mistakes or speed bumps do folks hit while they're being interviewed?
Jordanna Kwok: I do find that we recognize nerves, so we will see people who get nervous and will try to make sure that we're giving them space to kind of warm up first. So, we won't jump directly into technical questions, we'll always make sure that we talk a little bit about your background and so on just to get comfortable first. But the biggest mistakes that I see are candidates who come in without any questions or curiosity around the role itself or how the team operates.
Usually at the end we say, "do you have any questions for us?" And then when candidates say no that's usually not a great sign. Yeah, the other thing is kind of coming in and not really doing research ahead of time around the Netflix culture itself. There's a lot of material out there, and we even send it out ahead of time as well – take a look at the culture, there are some values in there, what resonates with you?
And if candidates say, "I haven't actually looked at it", and we're already further down the interview process, it's a sign of whether you’re really interested in us. Because you're also assessing the company to see if it's a good fit for you. So we want to make sure that that is happening.
