Why do these two lines of code result in different types?

Forums > SwiftUI

Hi,

These two lines of code are not the same, and the fact I thought they were the same means I don't understand what is going on here.

    var text: Binding<String>
    @Binding var text2: String

text is a binding, but text2 is a String.

Why isn't text2 also a binding?

Bob

Because one is using a Binding struct directly and the other is using it as a property wrapper. Property wrappers are essentially transparent to the underlying value type but using a struct directly has the type of that struct. That @ makes all the difference.
