SOLVED: Habbit Tracking Challenge - Why doesn't updating the property directly work

Forums > SwiftUI

I have my habits setup like this:

@Published var items = [ActivityItem]()

So when I want to update the completion count when I use firstIndex(of:) why can't I access that directly in the array using the index I am given and update the property directly.

I don't understand why replacing the object works but modifying the current object property doesn't.

Thanks for your help.

Okay so I figured it out for anyone else who might be hung up on this too.

The reason it fails because when you modify the property directly and try incrementing the count again it'll fail to find your habit in the main array to update it because the counts don't match up. You can get around this by also incrementing the count on your single habit object so they're in sync.
