DocumentGroup navigation bar has two arrows, why?

I'm trying out the document based app. When I create from the template and run it, there are 2 arrows in the navigation bar.

The second arrow gooes back to the file picker, this is ok.

The first arrow seems to do nothing. What is it for, and how can I hide it?
