SOLVED: Day 64 Using coordinators to manage SwiftUI view controllers

Forums > SwiftUI

Hi, I think(!) I have copied the tutorial code correctly but get two errors in my ImagePicker struct in the makeCooridinator and makeUIViewController methods - see "//Error:" comments. I'm using Xcode 13. Any help would be much appreciated...

import SwiftUI

struct ImagePicker: UIViewControllerRepresentable {
    @Environment(\.presentationMode) var presentationMode
    @Binding var image: UIImage?

    class coordinator: NSObject,
        UIImagePickerControllerDelegate,
        UINavigationControllerDelegate {

        var parent: ImagePicker

        init(_ parent: ImagePicker) {
            self.parent = parent
        }

        func imagePickerController(_ picker: UIImagePickerController, didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo info: [UIImagePickerController.InfoKey : Any]) {
            if let uiImage = info[.originalImage] as? UIImage {
                parent.image = uiImage
            }

            parent.presentationMode.wrappedValue.dismiss()
        }
    }

    func makeCoordinator() -> Coordinator {
        Coordinator(self) //Error: "Argument passed to call that takes no arguments"
    }

    func makeUIViewController(context: UIViewControllerRepresentableContext<ImagePicker>) -> UIImagePickerController {
        let picker = UIImagePickerController()
        picker.delegate = context.coordinator //Error: "Cannot assign value of type 'Void' to type '(UIImagePickerControllerDelegate & UINavigationControllerDelegate)?'"
        return picker
    }

    func updateUIViewController(_ uiViewController: UIImagePickerController, context: UIViewControllerRepresentableContext<ImagePicker>) {

    }

}
