Voice Promptings

Forums > Swift

Okay, so I'm working on a new work flow for an app so that when first using it, there is the option to have a voice describing how to use it (rather than just a bunch of text to read). I'm currently working with AVSpeechSynthesizer() and the various voice options available, which is great for reading text at scheduled times, but as you'd expect, the iOS Text to Speech is kind of uninviting to listen to.

Can anyone suggest a more relaxed, natural solution to having text read? I'd prefer to NOT simply record audio segments as that would inflate the size of the app way too much for the return of having instructions read.

NOTE: I know I'm using a lot of metafor to describe, and that infers a good bit of personal preference, but thinking maybe someone has other suggestions.

Thx!
