Loading a proprietory format data file

Forums > Swift

Hello,

I am porting my Android (java) application to iOS/Swift/SwiftUI ... and I am an absolute beginner.

My existing data files (over 1200) are music scores and are sold via my online shop.

In Android, I can use DataInputStream to read bytes, ints, Strings, etc. However, despite my research, all I have found is discouragement and frustration - not very useful when developing.

How can I load data from my files to extract the necessary data in a similar way as with the java DataInputStream ?

Can anyone help ... please ? Simon

The general idea would be to read your binary file into a Data object and then parse out the individual pieces. You can see an example in this thread from Apple's forums.
