SOLVED: Decode two arrays of structs for UserDefaults

Forums > Swift

Hi!

I'm trying to decode two structs in class init, but I have 2 returns, so the only first one is decoding. Maybe is there any chance to decode both?

init(){

        //: MARK: - DECODE ARRAY OF FAVORITES FEED FROM UD STORAGE
        if let savedFeedItems = UserDefaults.standard.data(forKey: UDKeys.FavoritesFeedItems) {
            if let decodedItems = try? JSONDecoder().decode([FeedItemData].self, from: savedFeedItems) {
                favoritesFeedItems = decodedItems
                return
            }
        }

        //: MARK: - DECODE ARRAY OF FAVORITES PRESETS FROM UD STORAGE
        if let savedPresetItems = UserDefaults.standard.data(forKey: UDKeys.FavoritesPresetItems) {
            if let decodedItems = try? JSONDecoder().decode([PresetItem].self, from: savedPresetItems) {
                favoritesPresetItems = decodedItems
                return
            }
        }

        favoritesFeedItems = []
        favoritesPresetItems = []
    }

Thank you! Slava Ukaine!

Why do you have the returns in your code, as it will return from the init() at this point.

Also at the end of the init you set both favoritesFeedItems and favoritsPresetItems to empty arrays. So you will empty them.

Remove the returns and remove the last two lines, and then try it.
