Bluetooth Audio Lag Time

How should you handle Bluetooth lag time for audio?

Scenario

I'm working on a game where audio feedback is an important part of the experience. I'd like the user to be able to use Bluetooth headphones/pods so they are not. With Bluetooth however, there is a lag so the sound and motion will be out of synch. I know from prior experience that BT will be laggy, so not much we can do about that, but is there a way to approximate how much lag there may be?

Better yet, is there a way to somehow 'ping' the audio device being used and use the round-trip to calculate how to adjust the app audio output?

If this isn't a good forum for this, any suggestions on where to look would be appreciated as well.
