How do you do global hotkeys in 2022?

I have been searching for this for a long time, and I found some external packages like Hotkey, however they seem to be relying on some very old Carbon API, which can get deprecated in any time. WHat's the current, modern way to alloiw my application to use global keyboard shortcuts?
