Can't set text property of UITextView

Forums > iOS

I have been trying to set the text property of an UITextView, but it seems to have no effect.

Here's the code:

let issueDescription = STTextArea()
issueDescription.text = issue?.description ?? "ksjdkasld"

Issue has a description property which is an optional String. The description was populated with some random lorem ipsum text beforehand.

STTextArea is a subclass of UITextView.

Then I print both values to the console. The result:

issue?.description : Doloremque architecto aut excepturi beatae nemo laborum id. Praesentium nihil voluptatibus ea cumque voluptatem. Reprehenderit facilis ipsa quisquam unde ut non doloribus non nobis culpa rerum sint.

issueDescription.text: nil

Does anyone know what is the problem here?
