Best ad network for monetizing app

Does anyone has experience using ad networks to monetize an app? Which networks are best to work with? Which provide the best rates? Do all ad networks pay per click or are there some that pay per impression?

I've found lists online, but they don't mention how good or bad revenues are for each one.
