Question about default values in dictionaries.

Forums > App Announcements

Hi, in this video it's told that we can provide default value while reading from dictionary, like this:

print(employee2["name", default: "Unknown"])

but Swift gives me error, Extra argument 'default' in call Is it because it's not used now? And I'm not sure if the courses are up to date in this website or not.

This is in wrong forum App Announcements!

This works fine. You have to have default as the key name may not be there. Maybe you got the employee2 dictionary wrong!

let employee2 = ["name": "Taylor Swift", "job": "Singer", "location": "Nashville"]

print(employee2["name", default: "Unknown"])
