I've been suffering from chronic back pain and shoulder pain due to bad posture (forward neck) and long study hours in college. I wasted a lot of money on physical therapy and medical fees (north of $10000) but they didn't help that much. But one coach suggested that I do bar/ bodyweight exercises. It turned to be the best recommendation I ever got.

Due to gyms requiring masks, I started just doing workouts I can do at home (pushups, pull ups, squats and bought some dumbbells.) Bodyweight exercises turned out to be most helpful for my back pain, and my shoulder imbalances improved a lot as well. The activity of hanging on a bar apparently helps relieve tension in the spine too..

Pull ups also helped me maintain a good posture, as it builds back muscles. Inspired by this I created PullUp Master App which encourages you to start doing pullups, from zero to 500.
